My trips to Vienna Austria
Trip To Vienna Austria July 2004
To Vienna I arrived by plane around lunch time. Nice clean airport welcome you just after you get from the plain. I have checked how to get to the centre by public transport.
It is easy by metro.
I had meeting 4 pm at the Schoenbrunn Castle with my frinds Sandy and her 2 young dothers and therefor I had just 1 hour time before to go there.
On Graben strasse (its my favourite in Vienna) I went to caffe restaurant to have sandwich and cup of coffe.
It was beautiful summer day with lots of sunshine. Then taking metro i moved to the castle. We take tour around the Castle and I liked very much the gardes there with all the flowers and trees. There are also animals in samll zoo.
It is pobably the best time to visit Vienna - July.
The Stephansdom is great. Amazing. What is strange and unusuall it is the new construction just oposite the Stephansdom in use like kind of department store or what.
The Saint Stephan's Dome is situated in the very city centre, and for centuries it has been the heart of Vienna. It is one of the most famous Viennese sights and was built in year 1147. In the past for a long time it was uncontested as highest building in Europe measuring almost 137 meters
There are many artist arount the Stephans Dome on the squre showing off.
You can take a carrige with horses from there. There is big line of them just oposite the Stephansdom.
So,I asked for the price to go to Prater and it was 50 EUR. (but anyway they did not looked so keen to go there, maybe they are used to go just around the centre)
Prater - large place field with many many atraction, and with the big russian weel. There was many writen about Prater (Stefan Zweig has great novel Spring in Prater), we went to Prater and as we had with us two girls (12 and 9) we enjoyed it so much. The park was full of people in all age lots of children, lots of tourists, lots of local people.
I have been in Vienna in wither time just before the Christmas .... when you smel the hot wine in the street but lets leave it for next time....
The Entry into the Prater is free to the puplic!
Prices vary from 1 Eur to 10 Eur depending on the attraction
