My trips to Tabor Czech Republic
Trip To Tabor spring 2005
Tabor Czech Republic
To Tabor we decided to go because it is historical town within one day Trip from Prague. It was nice spring weather and in the morning we catch a train in Prague main train station (Hlavni nadrazi, metro line C)
The train runs every hour and is direct to Tabor station. It takes around 2 hours to get there. The ticket cost 150 CZK (5 EUR) Trains are clean and safe.
To Tabor we arrived 11 am and after short walk get to the main square where we enjoyed breakfast and cofee in nice pub / bar in the middle of the Square just oposite the Tabor museum.
Right after that we went to the museum (entrance cost less then 2 EUR) you can choose between shorter tour in the museum or longer including the catacombs in underground (almost under all the square)
We choose the longer one.
The tour started with the Hussites movement with lots of picture and artefacts. Then we got introduce the leader of Hussites the spiritual leader Mr Jan Hus, and Jan Zizka the military leader who is facinating person for the Czechs.
After while the guide took us to the underground. There was secret exit from the town but also it was used as cellars for the houses in the square where they stroed for example beers and food.
What was very interesting for us was that the young people do not know or do not talk about the hussites at all. They living in Tabor and do not consider it like very historic and important town for its history. Maybe the life ask them for different thinks. Who knows.....
After the museum we had quick lunch little farder from the square and take a walk to monastery Klokoty. It is nice walk about 25 min along the river and then back to Tabor
We enjozed our trip very much and recommend it.
It is for one max 2 day.
