Trip to Slovakia 2004

Slovakia - Kosice
Kosice I have been in Kosice (east Slovakia town) in 2004 at the end of winter. It is small privince town figting for its own independence on the capital city of Slovakia - Bratislava and has its own history.
In Kosice is eyecatshing the huge different between the historical centre (Hlavni street - in English "Main street) and the sorounding areas which reminds mostly the suburbs of large cities even Kosice town is small. There is lots of panel / prefab houses with 5 and more stores (populary called rabbit hutch) in slovakian called sidlisko made by the communists in in years 1970-80
Kosice Church Slovakia is catholic country and Kosice are not exception. You can find many churches in Kosice - the most important Church is on Hlavni street in the centre.
Cathedral of St. Elisabeth built between the years 1378 and 1508 it is Gothic masterpiece, is the city's oldest architectural landmark. Particularly imposing is the winged main altar with its three oversize statues and forty-eight panel paintings, while the lateral altars, Gothic wall paintings and sculptures add to the charm. \
St. Michael's Chapel located to the south of the Catedral, is a single-nave Gothic edifice from the 14th century. Originally a cemetery chapel, it is the city's second oldest building
St. Urbain's Tower, a detached medieval bell-tower from 14th century also belongs to the cathedral complex, all of which was originally surrounded by a churchyard wall until 19th century. The Bell of St. Urbain is cast from the former one which was damged by fire.

Kosice Church What is almost schocked about the churches is that in one of the suburbs (with prefab houses) you can find prefab church. It is small not hight house made from formica and has rectangle shape with kind of small spirelet on the top and with wooden cross. Main door are in front side. People usually waiting infront of the gate before the mass. Nearby is bus stop and the people are mixed and no one is sure who is waiting for what.

Tatra Mountains Slovakia - Vysoke Tatry (High Tatra mountains) On the way back home we stoped in Vysoke Tatry (High Tatras mountains) for 2 days to enjoy the mountains and particulary to ski. Unfortunately it was March and almost all the snow was gone and just few lifts were working. We overnight in Stary Smokovec village and as it was out of season the accommodation was cheaper.
The next day we went to the top of the hills to ski but we made it just once before they definitely closed the lifts.
Therefor we moved to another place with more people.
I enjoy the afternoon so much.
