Pan was the important pastoral god, and his cult speard
to the rest of Greece thanks to the orgiastic festivals and honour of Dionzsus of whose companions the god Pan was one.
Pan was the vigorous demon of the mountains and woods, a god whose lige was devoted to hunting, singing, dancing and amorousadventures with the Nymphs.
Pan was one of Zeus most faithful helpers, during the battle of the Giants he let out wild cries which caused the enemies of the gods to take their heels,
thus originating the concept of panic.
There si statue of PAN from his sanctuary near the river Iiissus in Athens. The pastoral god Pan is showed seated cross-legged on rock covered with animal skin.
The statue could be seen in Athens Archaeological Museum.
