Trip to Krkonose Czech republic mountains
We had the crazy idea to go skiing to
Krkonose mountains
while we were in trip (just a long weekend) in Prague. After long night we got up 10 am and rent a car to go to the mountains. It takes us more 3 hours ride as the raods was full of ski lovers heading the same way. There is no highway between Prague and Krkonose and you can not go fast on the small reads. Anyway atleast we saw lots of the coutry covered with with snow. We passed Rokitnice nad Jizerou and from there you feel like in mountains. The snow is somewhere so high. I saw houses with snow almost up to second floor! We saw many people with ski or slades seems very happy - the true is that all of tem or almost all of them were on holidays thta could be the reason, who knows. In Czech mountains it seems to me they using horses to help, work in forests or just like transportation. We met lots of them. Also later we saw in Spindleruv Mlyn but also in other towns that you can buy a ride and tourists did that.
We arrived to Spindleruv Mlyn after 1 pm and on the parking there was no place to park our car. Fortunately we found a place. It cost 100 crowns per hour. The we met 2 guys offering us full day ticket for the lift for half price telling us that they leaving home. We buy that for half price (about 250 crowns) but untill we got on the lift we expected probles. But no problems occured so it was good deal.
There is lots of shops and stands with hot tea and coffe (usually much more expensove the normal shops in Czech republic), and some snacks in Spindleruv Mlyn. My friend Ellie did not told me that she is no skiing ! When I asked her how she is with the ski she just uttered quite ok. Then on the way she told me she was on the ski just once. That worried me.
But we were surpriced how nice was the room in small pensoin. It was lets say 5-10 min walk to the sea and it was ok with us.
I found out soon. On the lift she was somehow unstable but she manage get up and that was good sign.
So we were up there in few minutes. Finaly up looking for the great way down exciting.
Poeple around us speeding down talking and happy. We were happy too. So, Ellie look down and told me that she will better walk. I convinced her that she will do it. Just go ! And she goes. oh. She did not make more then 5 meters without felling donw. Down up, down up and again and again.
So, to make it shorter our trip to Krkonose to ski was all i all 3 hours ! trying to get down from the hill down, need to say that it was the blue hill which is the easies touristic one. Anyway we enjoyed it very much.
After the hard work we finished tired in the restaurant under the hill having nice dinner, soup and mountains stake. Strawberry and cream.
Then we went back to Prague. The way took us more then the way to Spindleruv Mlyn maybe because we lost little the way, we also stoped for another dinner as we felt hungry. We stoped in some motorest somewhere on the hlf way between the mountains and Prague.
And both of us fell to bed right after we entered our room. The clear air makes you so tired..
I think to go to Krkonose for skiing its better to have atleast whole weekend but better to go for week or 2. Try to avoid the national holiday in Czech republic to have little space.......
