Trip to Hydra Island Greece 2005
Hydra Island is near the city of Athens. It is about 1 and half hour by ferry - the high speed ferry. For that reason that it is really reachable from Athens in less the 2 hours Hydra belongs between the most visited Greek Islands.
We arrived in the after noon to the Hydra port. The ferry continue to Poros and Spetes. Just when we step on the save ground in Hydra some men offering you help to get to your hotel with Donkeys. Offering lift to your hotel. The person with donkey talking to you so confidently that you getting feeling that it is really something very normal this donkey ride.
And it is normal in Hydra coz there are no cars ! at the the Hydra island.
And as the town in in hill it is the only way how to carry the ludgagge. By the way you can see the symbol of donkeys also on the postcards of hydra and the gentleman who turn to us with the offer is on this post card as well. The picture seems to be made 20 years ago, but the man looks exactly the same like today. We had accommodation at the hotel Miranda and it was really very pleasand. It is very nice small hotel with very nice rooms with historical character. Breakfast is served in the garden.
There is a boat transportation to other part of Hydra usually the beaches, the cost is around 2 EUR per person.
We spent 2 days in Hydra and the move to Poros Island which is about 30 min by high speed boat...
